Elizabeth McLindon

Dr Elizabeth McLindon is a Research Fellow in the Department of General Practice. Liz does research within the Sexual Abuse and Family Violence (SAFE) program and her research has been focussed on gender-based violence in the personal lives of health professionals, the patterns of psychological violence in the general community and recovery after sexual violence.

Liz is the Deputy Director of the Centre for Family Violence Prevention at the Royal Women's Hospital. Liz uses both quantitative and qualitative methodologies to answer research questions.

Liz recently completed the largest study about family violence against health professionals in the world, called the ‘Health, Wellbeing & Relationships Project’. Liz works across a range of projects with an emphasis on survivor voices and the lived experience of violence, prevalence and impacts of family violence, and the health system response to people who have experienced violence. Her work aims to promote primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of violence against women and their children.

Liz’s professional background is in Social Work and Psychology and Liz maintains a clinical practice in her role as a senior sexual assault Counsellor/Advocate at the Royal Women’s Hospital. Liz also teaches emerging social workers in the Department of Social Work.
