Fiona

Fiona ran away from her 28 year DV relationship 6 years ago. When Fiona left she vowed if she could speak out about DV and in some way change the perception of women who have had this life style she would.

Four years ago Fiona was involved in the WITH program run by the University of Melbourne, a series of digital stories helping to promote awareness and increased understanding of intimate partner violence.

Fiona has since gone on to be an advocate speaker for Safe Steps, speaking at their 10 year anniversary function in 2017. Fiona has had a verbal article in the Guardian, participated in a You Tube video for North Western Health, been interviewed by a film producer and is on the WEAVERS panel, a group of Women Experiencing Abuse and Violence informing Research, facilitated by the University of Melbourne.

Fiona has also started an action group for women who have been in DV relationship -A-Sis-Stance to give them a voice and an opportunity to tackle many areas that are still sadly lacking.

Fiona is extremely driven and passionate about instigating change in this area.
